The average person living in a developing country has to walk 6 km to his or her water source, which is often dirty and makes people sick.

Globally, 1,000 children die every day because of health complications from their water source. The Christian relief organization World Vision has a mission to end the global water crisis. The organization is reaching a new person with clean water every 10 seconds. World Vision has made a way for the Dallas County area to join the organization in this work.

A World Vision 6K for Water will be hosted by Calvary Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 23 Oak Ridge Road, Buffalo. Each registration for the walk and run will provide sustainable, clean water for one person. Every step participants take is one that the child on their race bib won’t have to take. The walk and run will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19. Families, strollers, children and dogs are welcome.

Go to worldvision6k.org and join team “Love Deep and Wide.” Adult registration is $50, and registration for children (18 years old and younger) is $25. People also can donate to the team if they cannot participate in the walk and run.
