Richard R. “Buz” Freeman

Richard R. “Buz” Freeman of Mustang, Okla., passed away on Feb. 1, 2019, in Oklahoma. He was the youngest child of Bert and Beulah Freeman. He was born July 8, 1942, in Buffalo, Mo., where he was raised, went to school and graduated in 1960.

He was very well-liked by all who knew him and was an outstanding basketball player.

He met his wife, Nell (Dees), in school. They married in September 1963.

He joined the Army Reserve and retired after 27 years. He worked for Conoco Oil for many years before his retirement.

Buz and Nell had two children: Michelle Shelton, Norman, Okla., and one son, Chase (Gayla) of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren. They all survive him. Also surviving are a sister, Bennie Elmore, of Lebanon, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Sue Watkins (Butch); and many other family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; in-laws, Marvin and Berniece Dees; three brothers: Jim, Jack and C.B. Freeman; a sister, Evelyn; a sister-in-law, Juanita Freeman; and one nephew, Mike Freeman.

No services were held. Cremation rites were accorded, per his request.
