Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, Center Point Cemetery, under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Billy James Evans Jr., 55, was born Sept. 18, 1959, in Tennessee, the son of Billy Sr. and Lotta (Rowlinds) Evans. He died May 31, 2015, at his home near Elkland.

He was reared and attended school in Tennessee and Arkansas. He joined the U.S. Army in 1976.

He was united in marriage with Linda Higgins on June 30, 1978, in Arkansas.

After his discharge from the Army, he moved his family to Benton and Harrison, Ark., where he worked as a truck driver. He moved to Dallas County in 2004.

He enjoyed playing with his grandkids, fishing, aggravating whoever he could, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves.

He was a good man and was always ready to help when called upon.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: Randy, Jerry, Bobby and Buford Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons: Billy James III and wife, Susan Evans, Louisburg, and Chris and wife, Judy Evans, Buffalo; one sister, Carol Yeargan, Russellville, Ark.; three brothers-in-law: Ricky and wife, Donna Higgins, Wayne and wife, Lesha Higgins, and Jimmy Jr., and wife, Diane Higgins; five grandchildren: Toby, Kimmy, Joseph, Kristina and Elliot Evans; and other family members and friends who will all truly miss him.
