Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, Cedar Ridge Free Will Baptist Church, under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Burial in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Long Lane. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Catherine “Lorea” Evans, 94, was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Windyville, the daughter of William Peter and Martha Washington (Junkins) Dugan. She died May 21, 2015, at her home in Long Lane.

She attended high school, played basketball for four years and later graduated in 1942.

Shortly after graduation she was united in marriage to James Robert “Bob” Evans on March 1, 1942, and they made their home together in Long Lane.

She was a member of Cedar Ridge Free Will Baptist Church since the 1940s. She was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and helped form the first youth group at the church in the 1950s.

She was a great cook, made lots of quilts, loved to fish and garden and loved having her family at her home.

Lorea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Robert Evans; two daughters: Julia Creach and Shirley Laughlin; two sons: Bill Evans and Virgil Evans; three brothers: Elmer Dugan, Everett Dugan and Jack Dugan; one sister, Bessie Luttrell; one grandson, Kenneth Strickland; four sons-in-law: Alvin Creach, Charlie Strickland, Robert Laughlin and Mervin Garrison; and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Evans.

Survivors include her two daughters: Barbara Sue Alford and Janey Garrison; one son, J.R. Evans; three sisters-in-law: Elna Howard, Clydie Dugan and Margaret Evans; one son-in-law, Darrel Alford; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of many nieces, nephews, friends and family that will all truly miss her.
