Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Burial in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Roger Easter officiated. The Weeks family provided the music.

Escorts were Kevin Ethridge, Brandon Glor, Jerry Lee Jones, Doug Richardson and Jeff Richardson.

Clay Young, 80, was born Feb. 24, 1934, in Plad, the son of Oker and Nellie Young. He died Jan. 27, 2015, at Cox North Hospital, Springfield.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for four years on the USS Renville (APA)-277.

He was united in marriage with Barbara Joann Garrison on June 27, 1958. They raised their family on the family farm in Tunas. In later years, due to failing health, he moved to Buffalo.

He enjoyed trapping, hunting, carpentry and anything to be outdoors.

He loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He accepted his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized and joined the Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church in Tunas.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ellis Young.

Survivors include his wife, Joann; two sons: Cliff and wife, Jeannie Young, Elkland, and Steve and wife, Shelly Young, Urbana; a sister, Marcene and husband, Jim Jones, Long Lane; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Young; six grandchildren: Shauna, Alisha, Angie, Christy, Danica and Clayton; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; and many other friends and family members who will greatly miss him.
