Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, Kirk Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Urbana. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Urbana.

The Rev. Terry Gentry Jr. will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cody Dampier Memorial Fund. Online condolences can be made at cantlonotterness.com.

Cody Micheal Dampier, 24, was born Dec. 31, 1991, in Longview, Wash., the son of Tony Dampier and Shannon Vilhauer. He died May 23, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was reared in southwest Missouri and attended Skyline High School.

After his schooling, he went to work as a welder. He was a member of the Carpenters Union 978 in Springfield.

He met Brittany Hand in 2012, and the home was blessed with two children.

He enjoyed fishing for catfish, bass and crappie, going night fishing, camping, grilling, hunting, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He grew up as a member of the Olive Point Youth and currently was attending Dayspring Church. In recent years he had developed a special relationship with his uncle Cody.

Survivors include Brittany (Hand) Dampier of the home; his parents: Tony and wife, Jamie Dampier, Urbana, and Shannon and husband, Tony Vilhauer, Vancouver, Wash.; his children: Tristan and Autumn Dampier of the home; his brothers and sisters: Wyatt Dampier, AJ Dampier, Keelie Holmes and Makenna Shockley, all of Urbana; his grandparents: Dan and wife, Diane Maddux, Buffalo, Dick and wife, Karen Dampier, Urbana, and Frank and Danna Wood, Pittsburg; his great-grandfather, Ed Maddux, Tunas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends who all will truly miss him.
