Service: Graveside services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded by Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.

David Ray Owens, 68, was born Feb. 1, 1947, the son of Stephen William and Mayme June (Ricker) Owens. He died Feb. 15, 2015, at his home in Tunas, surrounded by his loving family.

He was united in marriage with Janet Kay White on Aug. 29, 1968.

He worked as a welder for many years in Linn Creek, for Jay Manufacturing. Later he worked in the carpentry industry for some time before retiring.

He loved the Lord and was saved at a young age. In recent years he recommitted his life and was baptized at Cherry Grove in Tunas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Stephen William “Junior” Owens and Richard Lee Owens; one sister, Maxine Hoppe; and two nephews: Stephen Darrell Owens and Marty Paul McDaniel.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Janet, of the home; his sons: Michael and wife, Paula Owens, Tunas, and Brian and wife, Rhonda Owens, Eldridge; grandchildren: Ashley and husband, Trenton Berry, Stephani Barrett, Mikey, Justen, Kayle, Emily and Samantha Owens; one great-grandchild, Brodee Barrett; two brothers Leroy and wife, Brenda Owens, Iberia, Calvert and wife, Linda Owens, Macks Creek; four sisters: Barbara Nations, Branch, Evelynn and husband, Jimmy Goldsberry, Climax Springs, Gladys and husband, Jerry Lewis, Colorado, and Phyllis McDaniel, Eldon; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
