DOROTHY L. (GLASS) ANKROM

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, Maple Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield.

Dorothy L. (Glass) Ankrom was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Dallas County, the daughter of William Thomas and Martha Alice (Lemons) Glass. She died March 17, 2018, in Springfield.

On Feb. 4, 1946, she was united in marriage with Leroy “Buddy” Ankrom. They made their home east of Buffalo.

She was a homemaker and loved to make quilts, cross-stitch, embroider and bake. She also enjoyed talking and writing about her childhood memories from the late 1920s and 1930s, as well as the raising of her sons, starting in the late 1940s. She also took the time to document them for others to read. One of her quotes was, “We worked hard, didn’t have much, but always had a good time.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers: Joe, Ray, Orville, Clyde, Claude, Homer and Tom; three sisters: Grace Pruitt, Beulah Gann and Minnie Gann; one son, Jerry Ankrom; and one daughter-in-law, Jean Ankrom.

Survivors include one son, Billie Ankrom, Buffalo; one daughter-in-law, Linda Ankrom; two granddaughters: Catina Ankrom and Amy Ankrom; and one great-grandson, Garret Haefele, all of Springfield.
