Elizabeth “Joan” Henderson, 73, was born Oct. 20, 1944, in Long Lane, the daughter of Loyd and Myrtle (Ford) Claspill. She died Feb. 15, 2018, in Buffalo.

She was born and raised in the Benton Branch area, attended school at Cowden Country School and later graduated from Buffalo High School.

She joined and was saved at Bible Baptist Church in 1955.

After her graduation from high school, she worked in Kansas City for a short time before returning to Buffalo. She worked at Teters Floral in Bolivar and Farris Brothers Clothing, and then worked as a florist at Copper-Atteberry. She purchased Copper-Atteberry in 1991 and ran it for 20 years until she retired in 2011. She was more than a florist. She truly loved what she did and the families she served, and always made sure every detail was perfect.

She was very optimistic, and people could not tell her she would lose her battle with cancer. Once her health began to decline, her special friend Bill Buscher was by her side every moment until she died.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Elmer Ford; her husband, Derald Henderson; and her two brothers: Raymond Claspill and Ray Claspill.

Survivors include her son, Darin and wife, Jane Henderson; one sister, Roberta Henderson; one sister-in-law, Juathina Claspill; her grandchildren: Darin and wife, Rhiannon Henderson, Randi and husband, Isaac Norman, and Derald Henderson; her great-grandchildren: Raelyn Henderson, Kaden Henderson and Cooper Norman; her special friends: Bill Buscher, Willa Phillips, Mitch Phillips and Chase Phillips; and many other friends and family who all truly will miss her.
