Gary Gene Stewart, 65, was born April 16, 1951, at Humansville, the son of Herbert Harold and Jean (Lauby) Stewart. He died April 22, 2016, at his home in Buffalo, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was saved in 1971 at his home in Rimby. He later joined the Calvary Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and attended faithfully until his death.

He was united in marriage with Anita Cheek on Nov. 22, 1992, in Buffalo.

He was a very giving person; if anyone needed anything fixed, he always was willing to help. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed going to races and watching Carl Edwards. He loved traveling and working on special projects.

He worked several jobs throughout the years. He was a grain hauler, worked for Northcutt Ford, Buffalo Auto Salvage, then went to work at Key Industries until the plant closed. He then worked for Davies Chevrolet, and currently was employed at Production Products, which he enjoyed very much.

He was a loving and caring man, a wonderful husband, dad, son, grandpa and friend.

Gary was preceded in death by his father; and step-granddaughter, Bailey Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Anita, of the home; his mother, Jean Stewart, Goodson; one son, Chris and wife, Jennifer Stewart, Lebanon; two brothers: Herb and wife, Linda Stewart, and James and wife, Ann Stewart, all of Rimby; one step-brother, Darrell Stewart, Arizona; one step-sister, Carolyn, Kansas City; one grandson, Brandon; four granddaughters: Courtney, Brittney, Abbey and Lauren; one great-grandson, Timmy; one step-son, Darren and wife, Shelia Cheek, Buffalo; two step-daughters: Denise and husband, Marty Cox, Buffalo, and Deanna Grimes, Springfield; seven step-grandchildren: Drake, Kimberlyn, Jodi, Shelby, Autumn, Dylan and Dalton; his church family; and a host of other family members and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
