Hubert Lee Highfill, 79, Fair Grove, was born May 5, 1936, in Polk County, the son of Harvey and Erma (Lile) Highfill. He died May 4, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, after a short illness.

He retired from Hudson Foods, after many years of service. He was known as a great handyman, able to fix almost anything and willing to help anyone.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed finding the best bargain at the local auctions. He also enjoyed his time with his family, especially going to yard sales and music shows with his wife.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eugene Highfill; two grandsons: Dustin Wright and Jesse Highfill; three sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Willa May Highfill; two daughters: Wanda and husband, Rick Wright, and Rebecca and husband, Randy Johnson; daughter-in-law, Ginny Highfill; five siblings: Jane and husband, Russ Emory, Goldie Tummons, Reva Russell, Dale and wife, Dianne Highfill and Andy Highfill; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
