Jackie Lee Logan, 77, was born Sept. 21, 1934, in Cross Timbers, the son of Francis Lee and Lucille (Lear) Logan. He died Sept. 21, 2011, at his home in Cross Timbers.

He was reared in Cross Timbers and graduated from Cross Timbers School in 1952. He joined the Cross Timbers Christian Church in July 1949.

He married Joleen Breshears Nov. 13, 1953. One son, Timothy, was born of this union. In 1977, Sid Kingston joined their family, and in 1979, Sid’s brother, Mike Kingston, joined their family.

After living and working briefly in Kansas City, he began crop and cattle farming alongside his father in Cross Timbers.

Several years ago, he turned the farming business over to his son Tim, and went back to his favorite thing to do, order buying cattle, which he did for over 40 years.

He traveled weekly to several sale barns to buy cattle for customers in Missouri and several other states. Through his enjoyment of order buying cattle, he made countless friends and acquaintances.

He also served on many community boards including Cross Timbers Cemetery, Skyline School Board, Southwest Bank, Cross Timbers Senior Housing and Farm Bureau.

He had a real art for conversation. This gift, along with his natural charisma, drew many strangers to become life-long friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joleen Logan, in 1994.

Survivors include a loving companion, Julie Wanhala and her son, Kyle, Cross Timbers; a son, Timothy and wife, Kim Logan, Cross Timbers; Mike and wife, Renee Kingston, Macks Creek, and Sid and wife, Julie Kingston, Urbana; grandchildren: Valen, Christopher and Connor Logan, Cross Timbers, Josh and Hope Kingston, Macks Creek, Michael and Heather Kingston, Kansas City, and Amanda and Adam Kingston, Urbana; two great-grandchildren: Brionna and Gaven Kingston, Macks Creek; his aunt, Marjorie Meisburger, Washington; and a host of cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
