JOANNE FAYE “JO” JASPER

Posted

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. March 20, Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo.

Joanne Faye “Jo” Jasper, 58, of Buffalo was born June 15, 1959, in St. Louis, the daughter of Vincent and Myrna (Stark) Smith. She died March 18, 2018, at Cox Medical Center, Springfield.

From a young age, she displayed love. She was always quick to help when it was needed, and if she couldn’t find a way, she made one.

She was dedicated to her family, both as a young woman and an adult. She loved her children and grandchildren ferociously, staying devoted until her last day. She took her love to the point that on the day she fell ill, she made calls comforting others and encouraging them.

In her free time, she loved to play. She wasn’t too proud to get on the ground with her grandchildren, to sing and dance, and to look like a wacko. She enjoyed going to yard sales to find fun, new trinkets, as well as spending some relaxing time fishing.

She taught all those around her how to love deeply. She was and remains a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: James, Butchy, John and Charles; and her stepson, Arley Jasper.

Survivors include her loving husband, Cleo; her children: Lynn and Brent Brown, Buffalo, Lisa Kurtz, Buffalo, Laura Kurtz, Buffalo, Ronni and Kristen Kurtz, Kansas City, and Eula and Rick Richardson, Springfield; and her grandchildren: Josh, Joanna, Jacob, Bradley, Lexee, Leah, Rylee, Elijah, Tyler, Lauren, Gavin, Michael, Vincent, Lillian and Jaxson.
