Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, Friendship Grace Brethren Church, Covington, Ohio, under the direction of Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington, Ohio. Burial, with military honors provided by the Veteran Elite Tribute Squad, in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Ohio.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Aug. 12, at the funeral home.

Larry Alvin Jenkins, 74, was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Lester A. and Mary (Frick) Jenkins. He died Aug. 9, 2014, at his home in Covington, Ohio, after a courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by family.

He was reared in rural central Minnesota, where he attended the Rossburg one-room school for two years. They moved closer to town where he attended Aitkin Public Schools, graduating in 1957.

He was in the U.S. Air Force for four and one-half years, stationed in Topeka, Kan., at Forbes SAC base as a jet engine specialist.

He was united in marriage with Janet Wells in 1958; they later divorced. He married Linda Graham Bancroft in 1970.

He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1962, and went to work for Motorola. He started moving mobile homes under Larinda Mobile Home Movers in 1970. His motto was “Nothing is impossible, it just costs more.”

They moved to the farm in Long Lane in 1981, where they had a dairy farm. He went back into trucking doing flatbed hauling for several years and then moved conversion vans until he retired.

They moved to Covington, Ohio, in 2011, to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tara Pilkington; a brother, Marvin; son-in-law, Lupe Acosta; a nephew; and a great-niece.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Linda; daughter, Lori Acosta, Apache Junction, Ariz.; stepson, Steve and wife, Karen Bancroft, Gilbert, Ariz.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Myrna Tweet and friend, Don Blount, Aitkin, Minn.; brother, Jim “Don” and wife, Ruth, Topeka, Kan.; sister-in-law, DeAnn Jenkins, Apache Junction, Ariz.; nieces and nephews and their families; and good friend, Jim Conner.
