Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Burial in Bowers Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mildred Janett “Jan” Leal Stewart, 74, was born April 12, 1942, in Preston, the daughter of Lloyd and Clara (Rash) LaRose. She died Sept. 30, 2015, at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.

She was reared and attended school in Preston.

She was united in marriage with Daniel Leal in Kansas City on April 11, 1959. They moved several times while her husband was in the Air Force before settling in Texas. She moved back to Missouri after his death in 1987.

She was united in marriage with John Stewart on Dec. 22, 2006, and to this union two adult children were acquired.

She loved to play bingo, fish, and most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, partaking in whatever activity or sport they were involved in. She was the best grandma in the world and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.

Jan was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel; her parents; three brothers: Billy Ray LaRose, Bob LaRose and Glen LaRose; and an infant sister, Winona LaRose.

Survivors include her husband, John Stewart, of the home; her children: Tammie Davis and husband, Ricardo Turin, Osceola, Victoria “Vickie” and husband, David “Tinckey” Freddie, Preston, Ricardo “Ricky” and wife, Deborah Leal, Cross Timbers, Daniel Shane Leal, Preston, Shannon and husband, Robbie Ott, Osceola, Robert and wife, Polly Stewart, Springfield, and Michael Stewart, Springfield; one brother, Von Dee LaRose, Quincy, Ill.; one sister, Margaret Ann LaRose, Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
