Services were 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo, with the Rev. Tim Haupt officiating. The congregation sang “Mansion Over the Hilltop” and “Precious Memories,” accompanied by Carla Deckard. Burial was in Lone Rock Cemetery under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo.. Memorials may be made to the Lone Rock Cemetery Fund and left with the funeral home.

Pansy Jewell (Lemons) Cope, 83, was born Jan. 17, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lemons. She died May 2, 2011, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center, Buffalo.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age during a revival at Lone Rock Church. Later she affirmed her faith in God during a church service in Kansas City, Kan., and was baptized by the Rev. Walter Wray. She began teaching in the children’s department and later the young adults class.

She was united in marriage with Murrell Cope on Feb. 18, 1946. They made their home in Gladstone where she worked for more than 25 years in the William’s United Super Market.

She was also a partner with her husband in the building of new homes. During that time she was an agent for the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Murrell Cope; her son, Lavern Cope; one sister, Mary June Lolley; and a brother, Martin Lemons.

Survivors include her three children: Helen and husband, Mike Pittman, Linda and husband, Jerry Seabaugh, and Wayne and wife, Mary Cope; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Cope; one sister, Rogene Buller, Buffalo; two brothers: Ray and wife, Kathy Lemons, Clinton, and Russell and wife, Betty Lemons, Bolivar; one brother-in-law, Jim Lolley, Wichita, Kan.; eight grandchildren: Julie and husband, David Whittaker, Karen and husband, Daren Walters, Preston Cope, David and wife, Ruth Seabaugh, Teresa and husband, Tim Toolen, Amy and husband, Lewis Crooks, Rebecca and husband, Miguel Cabrera, and Mathew Cope; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
