Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, Buffalo Prairie Middle School gymnasium. Cremation rites were accorded under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Rachel Brenneva (Frantz) Akins, 50, was born July 14, 1965, in McNary, Ariz., the daughter of Vernon and Bernice Frantz. She died May 9, 2016.

She was raised and attended school in Buffalo.

She married the love of her life, Jeff Akins, on June 28, 1986. They made their home in Tunas. Once the children were raised, they moved to Buffalo.

She was an art teacher at Buffalo Prairie Middle School.

She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997 and retired from teaching because of complications with her illness in 1998.

She loved everyone and was loved by everyone. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a way of relating to everyone she met. Her kindness only was exceeded by her faith in Christ.

Rachel was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brykn Miller.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff, of the home; her parents; two children: Jeff Jr. and wife, Ashley Akins, and Brittney Akins, all of Buffalo; five grandchildren: Haley, Hope and Dylan Dowell, Plattsmouth, Neb., and Harper and Presley Akins, Buffalo; and other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
