Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, Camdenton Middle School Gymnasium, under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the middle school.

Memorial donations may be made to the family where they will find a fitting tribute for their daughter.  Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the school the day of the service.

Stevie Ann Lain, 27, was born March 13, 1988, in Springfield, the daughter of Steve Wayne and Shelley Ann (Girard) Lain, Macks Creek. She died Oct. 14, 2015, at her home in Joplin.

She was reared in Camdenton and graduatated from Camdenton High School in 2006.  In high school she played basketball and volleyball.  She was active in many organizations, including the Spanish Club.  She attended Ozarks Technical Community College and received a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University in parks and recreation. She worked for the Missouri State Parks leading the learn to camp and learn to paddle programs.  She was currently a program coordinator for Special Olympics.

She loved the outdoors, especially canoeing, kayaking, camping and dutch oven cooking. Sharing her outdoor expertise and love of nature brought her joy.

She had a smile that warmed a heart and had a passion for helping others. Her memory will linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Violet Lain.

Survivors include her parents; her brother, Steven Taylor Lain, Macks Creek; partner, Katie Wiley, Joplin; her paternal grandfather, Wayne Lain, Macks Creek; maternal grandparents, Bill and Sandy Girard, Camdenton; aunts and uncles: Bill Jr. and wife, Brenda Girard, Lisa Waters and Travis Kinkaid, all of Macks Creek, and Mark and wife, Stefanie Girard, Camdenton; Katie’s parents and brother: Mark and Sharon Wiley and Dexter Wiley, all of Colony, Kan.; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
