National Active and Retired Federal Employees Pomme de Terre Chapter 1980 members, potential members and their guests are invited to attend the August meeting, featuring Charley Burwick as the speaker.

The group will meet at 11 a.m. Aug. 1 for fellowship and lunch before the meeting at Smith’s Restaurant in Collins.

Burwick is retired from the federal government with four years with the U.S. Air Force and 31 years with the Federal Aviation Administration. In the FAA he served in the Air Traffic Control System and retired as a division manager in the Office of Aviation Safety in FAA headquarters in Washington, D.C. In the latter years of his career, he became very interested and active as a birder. Since retiring and moving to Springfield, he is an active member of the Greater Ozarks Audubon Society, a long-term volunteer at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center and a member of the steering committee in the Springfield Plateau Master Naturalist Chapter in Springfield.

Burwick said, “I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge of the Master Naturalist Program, and all of the enriching things that can be learned and shared with chapter members and the people in our communities surrounding us.”
