A Buffalo Reflex reader called to inform us that another telephone scam is circulating. She reported that she had a computerized recording left on her answering machine, and because of the content and the mechanics of the message, she said she felt confident that it was a fraudulent scheme.

The computer recording left on her answering machine said, “… let you know that the subscription you have taken has been expired. You are going to get charged for the next subscription, which will be $299.99. If you want to cancel the subscription, please call us on our toll-free helpline, (855) 638-0241. One of our representatives is going to assist you so you do not get charged for the next subscription, because money once give debited cannot be refunded. Thank you.”

Beware of fraudulent phone calls requesting information over the phone. If a scam is suspected, call the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office at (417) 345-2441 and/or the Missouri attorney general’s office at (573) 751-3321 or (800) 392-8222.
