Do you think you can build a better mouse trap? If so, the Dallas County Economic Development GRO program wants entrepreneurs and new business owners to open offices or stores in Buffalo, and is putting money where its mouth is.

The Create Here program offers thousands of dollars in incentives. Applicants will find business support, in-kind service, local experts ready to help and tax breaks. The Create Here application is now open through June 30 at createhere.biz/create-here-buffalo/.

According to Hollie Elliott, Dallas County economic development director, “The slogan is ‘Buffalo, Belong Here,’ and we mean that from the heart. It is a simple idea: Create here, belong here, be our neighbor, and we’ll give you the help you need to be successful.”

A community committee will carefully review applicants to make sure the new business’ goals for the future are a good match with Buffalo. The following criteria will be equally weighed in the selection process:

• Applicant experience, motivation and enthusiasm.

• Soundness of the business plan; financial viability.

• How well will the business complement the local needs and the vision for the area.

On July 22, preliminary selection results will be available. On Aug. 10, an invitation-only business pitch competition will be held.
