Arthur Louis Horn

Arthur Louis Horn, son of the late Arthur B. and Ethel Louise (Barber) Horn was born on January 12, 1934 in Richmond, MO and departed this life on March 9, 2021 at his home near Urbana, MO. At the time of his passing he was 87 years, one month, and 24 days of age.

Arthur was reared and attended school in Richmond, MO.

He was united in marriage to Winona Nadine Nelson on June 29, 1952, and to this union seven children were born, all of whom survive him.

He began working at a steel factory that made the metal for the Arch in St. Louis. He also worked in factories and did concrete work before moving to Urbana in 1967, where they purchased a farm. The operation started as a dairy, but soon moved into beef cattle and hay hauling.

Arthur was a very protective and creative father. If he needed something, he would make it. He was also artistic and painted several pictures for the grandchildren.

He enjoyed taking family vacations to Colorado, Tennessee, and Kentucky to see the mountains and camp. He also loved to hunt deer, arrowheads, and mushrooms, watch the eagles, and just being outdoors.

Arthur was a member of the Lakeside Assembly of God in Pittsburg, MO and had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George; his stepmother, Stella; and three infant grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Winona Horn of the home; his children, Winona Drake & Virgil Pearson, Nancy & husband Donnie Kinslow, James & wife Cindy Horn, Sandra & husband John Benedict, Mark & wife Keitha Horn, Leslie & wife Pam Horn, and Beverly & husband Ronnie Percival; 24 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Mary McMillan and Joyce Goates both of Arkansas.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo with Pastor Gary Parsons officiating. Escorts were Eli Drake, Wesley Kinslow, Bradley Horn, Joe Kinslow, Matthew Horn, Morgan Benedict, and Samuel Percival. Honorary escorts were Isaiah Benedict, Jacob Horn, Jeremy Horn, Jason Horn, and Bryan Benedict. Music was provided by Ethan & Cara Benedict.

Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Urbana under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Visitation was from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Fund.
