Posted

Cecil Kent “Kenny” Bursey, born August 26, 1956, went to be with his Heavenly father October 5, 2019.

Kenny was born in Pampa, TX. He grew up in Buffalo, MO, graduating from high school there, and was a longtime resident of Nevada, TX.

Kenny was a master of all things he did; he was a landscaper, a stone mason, a mechanic and most recently an underground locator.

He was also the #1 fan of Dale Earnhardt and all things Earnhardt. When they said “Crank It Up” during the race, the whole neighborhood heard it. He loved his NASCAR, hunting and fishing. His last road trip was to the deer lease two weeks before he passed.

He was that person whom everyone called when they needed help, and he always responded. He had an infectious smile, the most beautiful brown eyes and a heart as big as Texas. He was a friend to many, but he loved his family more than anything.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marty Bursey, his children Nathaniel Bursey, Julia Allred (Brandon), and Caleb Bursey. His grandchildren, Keelan Allred, Brock Allred, Ethan Bursey, Kaytlyn Bursey, and Hunter Bursey. Siblings, Rick Bursey (Lisa) and Tina Bursey Record (Brad), Jon Bursey (Melanie), Debbie Caywood (Chris) and Leeanne Bursey. Aunts, Debbie Thompson (Tom), Janet Hall, Jannice Griffin. Uncles, Seth Bursey (Pam) and Bob Blakey. Also, his cousins, Tammy Smith (Ty), Amanda White, Jeremy White plus many more cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nephews who loved him dearly and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, David Bursey, mother Glenda Gay Tuley Rose. Grandparents, Ernest and Laverne Hughes and J.D. and Lois Bursey. Granddaughter, Emma Waddell and niece, Kylie Record.

Services were at the Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home at 2343 Lake Road, Lavon, TX. Visitation was on Thursday, October 10 from 5:00 to 8:00. Funeral was on Friday, October 11 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home in Lavon.
