Darlene Kay (Gray) Henderson was born February 18, 1940 to Orra Sullivan Gray and Esta May (Fortune) Gray. She passed away May 27, 2020 in her home in Springfield, MO after a long illness.

Darlene was born in Weldon, IA but moved with her family to Louisburg, MO as a young girl. She was united in marriage to Earnest Lawson Henderson on May 19, 1957. To this union four children were born.

Darlene was preceded in death by her Husband, Earnest, of 62 years in September of 2019, her parents, one son, Barry Dee Henderson, a sister Scotti Goldberg, and four brothers, Johnny, Gene, Raymond and Bob Ellis.

She is survived by three children, Mark Lawson Henderson and his wife Lisa of Denver CO, Todd Henderson of Springfield, MO and Wendy Cave of Springfield, MO, one brother, Kenneth Gray and wife Gerry of Nixa, MO, three sisters-in-law, Maxine Henderson of Springfield MO, Genevieve Peterson of Fresno CA and Shirley Dame and Husband Gearld of Phillipsburg, MO, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends who will sadly miss her.

Darlene graduated from Buffalo High School in 1957, and after her marriage became a homemaker for her family. She was an active member of Graceway Baptist Church in Springfield and attended regularly until her illness prevented her from doing so.

Darlene devoted her life to her family. She was a great cook, seamstress, and homemaker. She was always active in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. After her children were grown, she worked as a receptionist at the copy products business that Earnest owned. She and her husband were active members of the Morgan Horse Club for many years. She loved to ride, read, and spend time at the lake. Darlene will be missed by all who knew her.

Memorial Services will be held at Graceway Baptist Church 5010 S. Farm Road 135 Springfield MO at 1:30 P.M. June 27, 2020. Burial will follow at Plad Cemetery, Dallas County MO.
