The take-home message from July’s DIVAS meeting is everyone should make an appointment with your personal insurance agent and review your policies. Also, never, ever buy insurance from 800 numbers. A local agent will protect your personal needs.

A panel of local insurance agents explained details of different types of insurance from umbrella policies to life insurance and everything in between. Each agent had a specialty and spoke to the women about what to expect and think about at their insurance review with an insurance company.

The DIVAS would like to thank the following local agents for participating in the panel: Angelia Owens, Central States Insurance Specialists; Devona Allen, Nimmo Insurance; Teresa Strickland, Shelter Insurance; Lisle Berry, Custom Insurance Advisors; Dan Sheckler, HealthMarkets; and Kelly Johnson, State Farm Insurance.

Next month, state Sen. Sandy Crawford will be the speaker. Crawford will update the group about what happened in session this year and what’s ahead. Last year’s update was full of information and hope for the future. The DIVAS expect 2019 will be the same and are proud to have Crawford as one of the roll call.
