Dorothy Jean Davis, daughter of the late Jim and Pearl (Mathis) Squire, was born on October 26, 1933 in Buffalo, MO and departed this life on November 23, 2020 in Buffalo, MO. At the time of her passing she was 87 years and 26 days of age.

Dorothy was raised in Missouri and California. She was united in marriage to Clarence Eugene “Buster” Davis on February 15, 1952 in Dallas County, MO and to this union two children were born, one of whom survives her.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always there to help Buster in all of his endeavors, in the hay field, on the milk routes, and running him parts when he had a breakdown. She also helped her children by babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy loved having her family over for dinners and was well known for her fried chicken and peach cobbler. She enjoyed painting, playing the piano, and working with the flowers in her yard. Dorothy loved her Lord and Savior and was an active member of the First Christian Church in Buffalo.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Buster; her parents; her son, Ricky M. Davis; and one granddaughter, Tammy Lynne Swanigan.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon & husband Mike Russell of Bolivar, MO; six grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Layne, Stacy & wife Suzy and children James and Elisabeth, Casey & wife Mukomi and children Amani and Kaley, and Jason & wife Kim and children Jaida, Jailyn, and Jaliea. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 in the Reynolds Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Tim Case officiating.

Visitation was from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Breast Cancer Foundation. Services were under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
