The Hillcrest Quilters women are trying to get back in the swing of things, as many members have been ill or suffered a loss. Our prayers are with them.
The rains are gone, so here comes the heat.
We are almost done with the stack and whack hand-quilting. It will be given to Reitha Record, a member of our group who lost everything in a house fire last February. She is an avid quilter and lost many beautiful, finished quilts, plus all her fabric and sewing machines.
Our maple leaf quilt is awaiting binding. This will be auctioned off at the Cherry Grove Fall Festival in October.
A Christmas quilt is in the works. This will be raffled off at the Engles Senior Center in the fall.
Evelyn has a quilt for raffle at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center. It is called “Old World Comfort.” Be sure to check out these quilts and take a chance.
Some of the women went up to Hamilton, Mo., to enjoy all the shops that are up there. They brought back some lovely pieces of fabric, etc., for us to see. This is also the birthplace of J.C. Penney. There is lots to see there, if you get a chance to go.
Don't forget that we meet at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Cherry Grove Baptist Church on Mo. 73. Hope to see you.
