Leland Leon Marley

Leland Leon Marley, 93, of Augusta, KS, went home to his heavenly father on Saturday, October 17, 2020, surrounded by family and friends.

Per Leland’s request, there will be no services held.

Leland was born on December 21, 1926, in Windyville, MO, the son of William and Hassie (Phillips) Marley.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 as a scuba diver. After he served in the Navy, he worked for Mobil Refinery for 39 years and 9 months and retired in 1983.

On June 1, 1969, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Burtin) Bennett in Lebanon, MO, who survives him.

He is also survived by sons: Lee Marley of Augusta, KS, Jeff Marley and wife Linda of Ferndale, WA, and Scott Bennett and wife Anita of Wytheville, VA; daughter, Karen Laubhan of Augusta, KS; 7 grandchildren: Cole, Chelsie, Shelbie, Kris, Jason, Hope and Caleb; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Marley and wife Katy of Lebanon, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; great friends, John and Donna Hoefgen.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; father-in-law, Bert Burtin; mother-in-law, Faye Burtin; siblings: Kenneth, Lavon, Ernie, Wallace, Lavona, Leona and Geneva; dear son-in-law, Marc Laubhan; and dear nephew, Kelly Burtin.

He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, and we will cherish the love he shared and the legacy that he has left behind. We can’t wait to be reunited and see him again someday.
