Lora Pauline (Thornbury) Atchley was born on March 31, 1925 and departed this life on September 24, 2019.
Pauline was the youngest child of William and Maude (Baker) Thornbury. Pauline married H R (Bus) Atchley on March 30, 1946, upon his return from the service. They moved to Wyoming, Kansas City, MO, then back to Springfield where they had one son, William Morgan Atchley. From there they moved to Louisburg, MO where they spent the rest of their days.
Pauline went to work at Southwestern Bell. She retired in March of 1982. She was known as “Polly the Pie Maker” by all. If you knew Pauline, she knew what your favorite pie was and would have one ready when you came to visit.
Pauline loved her family dearly and was over the moon when her granddaughter Virginia was born. Then three years ago in May, her great-grandson Liam was born. She lived for him. They had a very special relationship.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother; four sisters; and a host of many friends and relatives. She is survived by her son, Morgan & wife Barbara Atchley of Urbana, MO; her granddaughter, Virginia & husband Aaron Roby of Springfield, MO; her great-grandson, William (Liam) A. Roby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Loren Dryer officiating. Escorts will be Dale Potter, Jim Smith, Mike Ray, Scott Baker, Ronnie Condren, and Ed Ford. Honorary Escorts will be Bill Turner, Jeff Trupp, Bill Brown, Greg McKinney, Reggie Sharp, Brett Winingar, Joe Trichalo, and Deryle Potter. Interment will be in the Louisburg Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.
