Myrtle Ann (Miller) Jones

Myrtle Ann (Miller) Jones, age 94 years and 16 days was born near Louisburg, MO on September 20th, 1926 to Jesse & Hattie (Hinkle) Miller and passed away on October 6, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO following a brief illness.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie Jones; one son, Dennis Reed; one sister, Doris Williams; and one brother, Fred Miller.

Left here on earth to cherish her memory are her sister, Naden Umphreys of Buckner, MO; her brother, Frank Miller & wife Ellen of Pittsburg, MO; her daughter, Margarett Reed of Louisburg, MO; her son, Dean Jones & wife Gloria of Nixa, MO; her daughter-in-law, Sherlin Reed of Bolivar, MO; grandsons, Shawn Pantoga of Louisburg, MO, Larry Pantoga of Springdale, AR, Mike Pantoga & wife Amy of Rolla, MO, Brandon Jones of Clever, MO, Jesse Jones & wife Amanda of Clever, MO; one granddaughter, Tammy Baker & husband Craig of Kansas City, MO; eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. And many friends.

Myrtle was raised as a farm girl in Dallas County and helped her parents and brothers and sisters on the family farm. And then moved to Kansas City for a few years. Got enough of the big city and moved back to the farm life west of Louisburg. She enjoyed growing a garden and canning vegetables from it. And jellies and jams from the fruit trees. Just like her Mother did.

Her favorite hobby for several years was quilting. She belonged to a quilt club with several other ladies that loved to quilt. She made quilts for family and friends. Someone would send her a box of quilt pieces and she would put them together in a design and turn out a beautiful quilt. She did some that she charged the people for. She called that her “Mad Money”. Most were passed down to the kids and grandkids.

Myrtle was a long-time member of the Louisburg Baptist Church. Always so proud of the church and her friends that attended with her. Shared many memories with her family about the church and her connection with God. When she couldn’t attend, she still did her Bible study at home.

She greeted everyone with a smile. Never met a stranger. Would strike up a conversation with anyone. Proved that again after moving from her house in Louisburg three years ago to the Villas at Forest Park in Nixa, MO. Where she was living in her own apartment when she passed. There she made another new bunch of friends.

Along with her newest friends in Nixa and all of her friends in the Dallas County area, and extended family she will truly be missed.
