Twenty-five years ago, Jack and Melba Shewmaker established the Shewmaker Scholarship Trust for the purpose of providing scholarships for higher learning at the college or university level. In order to specifically benefit local students, the scholarships are only available to deserving graduating seniors at Buffalo High School. Each year the net income of the trust is paid out in scholarships.
