Wanda Jean Sturdevant, daughter of the late Clifford and Ada (Hicks) Evans was born on December 29, 1939 in Wilson Township, MO and departed this life on July 3, 2020 in Independence, MO. At the time of her passing she was 80 years, six months, and four days of age.

Wanda was reared and attended school in Kansas City, MO.

She was united in marriage to Ronald S. Sturdevant on January 14, 1961 and to this union one son blessed the home.

She was a hard worker her entire life, helping her husband run their nursery and landscaping business, and later working on the family farm raising pigs and cattle. She also helped build houses, where it was her job to install the insulation in the walls.

She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, raising a garden, and working in her flowers. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed the time they got to spend together. She loved her lord and savior and was baptized in 1970 at the Pleasant Prairie Baptist Church in Peculiar, MO.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dean Hicks and Leon Evans.

She is survived by her husband Ronald of the home; one son, Ben & wife Crystal Sturdevant of Harrisonville, MO; two sisters, Genny Boxley of Belton, MO and Barbara Jackson of Belton, MO; one grandson, Jesse; and one granddaughter, Brenna. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, MO. Interment will be in the Lone Rock Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
