Friday night, Jan. 24, the annual Dallas County Area YMCA Chili Supper and Chili Cook-off begins serving at 5 p.m. at the Dallas County Area YMCA, 932 W. Main St. in Buffalo.
Because of the death of Jamie George, whose visitation is also Friday night, fundraiser organizers request that overflow parking at Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home not be allowed this year. Remember, car parking goes around the First Baptist Church to the south side.
The cost for chili for children ages 4 to 12 is $3; for children younger than 3, free; and for adults, $5. With the purchase of a bowl, participants can vote for the top People’s Choice award.
The live auction will begin at 6 p.m. The list of auction items is extensive, including the following: 100 gallons of propane, delivered from Thompson Gas; $300 fireworks bundle from Hale Fireworks; 16 tons of white rock, delivered up to 20 miles from the quarry, from Hostetler Quarry; 100 gallons of propane, delivered from MS Propane;
