Friday night, Jan. 24, the annual Dallas County Area YMCA Chili Supper and Chili Cook-off begins serving at 5 p.m. at the Dallas County Area YMCA, 932 W. Main St. in Buffalo.

Because of the death of Jamie George, whose visitation is also Friday night, fundraiser organizers request that overflow parking at Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home not be allowed this year. Remember, car parking goes around the First Baptist Church to the south side.

The cost for chili for children ages 4 to 12 is $3; for children younger than 3, free; and for adults, $5. With the purchase of a bowl, participants can vote for the top People’s Choice award.

The live auction will begin at 6 p.m. The list of auction items is extensive, including the following: 100 gallons of propane, delivered from Thompson Gas; $300 fireworks bundle from Hale Fireworks; 16 tons of white rock, delivered up to 20 miles from the quarry, from Hostetler Quarry; 100 gallons of propane, delivered from MS Propane;

Half-day guided fishing trip for two from MS Propane; Pioneer Woman pot and pan set from Old Missouri Bank; Pioneer Women basket from Dallas County R-1 Schools;

An American flag flown over the Capitol at Jefferson City from Missouri state Sen. Sandy Crawford; 100, $1 bills that have never been circulated from O’Bannon Bank, plus one American flag flown over the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.;

One haircut every month for a year from Buffalo Barber; Buffalo Reflex subscription; an assortment of pies, doughnuts and cupcakes; assorted baskets; and assorted gift certificates ranging from $5 to $100 from businesses in the county.

There are too many items to list with more coming to the Y every day.

All proceeds will benefit the Annual Campaign Financial Assistance Program for Y membership assistance for children in need.

Donations will be taken up to Friday morning. To donate, register a team or for more information, call the Y at (417) 345-1116.
