Road trips to Pennslyvania with my family are some of my fondest memories.

I dreamt of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon because of my favorite character of Greys Anatomy. Christina Yang.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Reading and spending time with my family.

French fries dipped in a Wendys Frosty.

What is the most absurd thing you have been tricked into doing or believing?

My mom used to tell me if I took a bath while it was storming, lightning would strike me through the tub and I was scared to bathe during storms for years.

If you could meet anyone in this world today, who would you meet?

Stevie Nicks! I bet she has some great stories.

What is your favorite fountain drink and candy bar?

I love a good Dr. Pepper & Butterfinger combo.

What is one ability you believe everybody should possess?

The ability to be kind even when it isn’t your first reaction.

I went to a One Direction concert when I was in middle school, and that made little 10 year old me so happy!

The Buffalo Garden Club held its July meeting on Thursday, July 27.  The members attending were; Cecilia Dixon, Darlene Dufeck, Lenora Erb, Rita Hoogland, Shirley Hyatt, Thelma Tess Kurtz,Thomi McDaniel, Jeanie Smith, Hope Stubbs, Liz Van Dee, and Janet Wood. The roll call question was, “How will you adapt your garden to the warmer summer temperatures?” There was a variety of answers, but a very similar topic of water. The answers were using a soaker hose, adding a drip irrigation system, adding extra mulch and extra water.  more

The Recycling Center sits off North U.S. Highway 65 south of Missouri State Highway 73 turn-off. They are open on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. The center accepts cardboard, hard and soft back books, aluminum, tin, junk mail, #1 and #2 plastics, magazines and chipboard (cereal boxes). more

Mattison “Matti” Darnell has roots in Dallas County that go way back. She is the 12 year old daughter of Matt and Breann Darnell, Buffalo; the granddaughter of Steve and Joy Schuelke, Buffalo; the great granddaughter of Bob and Betty Howerton, Buffalo; and the great great granddaughter of Oval and Lolan “Doc” Howerton, Buffalo, who sent area weather information to The TV and radio stations in Springfield. But she is a celebrity in her own right. This young lady has already garnered several top awards from pageants across the country and has even started her own “Racing Towards Safety” mission. Most recently, she was awarded the national title of Preteen Miss Princess of America at the National Princess of America Pageant held July 23-29 in Branson. more

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) offers a variety of charitable funds to help individuals and families accomplish their philanthropic goals. There are many different types of funds to fit your giving vision. Recently, Ashley Silva, from CFO, spoke to the Buffalo Rotary Club about funds they have in the Dallas County Community Foundation and discussed the different types of funds. more
The State Department says Honduras has violent crimes, such as homicide, armed robbery and kidnapping is common. Violent gang activity, such as extortion, violent street crime, rape, and narcotics and human trafficking, is widespread. Local police and emergency services lack sufficient resources to respond effectively to serious crime. more
Around 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, Austin Barber, 32, of Buffalo was driving a 2000 Polar Kraft motorboat southbound when the boat struck two rocks on the Niangua River in Laclede County. Barber and his passenger, an 8-year-old girl, were ejected into the water and the boat ended up striking the girl. The 8-year-old was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield with serious injuries. No injuries were reported for Barber. more
HiSet Preparation classes for Adults looking to take their High School Equivalency Test are starting back up for the fall session in Buffalo on August 22. These classes are offered by the Adult Education Department of Ozarks Technical Community College, in partnership with the Dallas County R-1 School District. Classes are free and open to students 17 or older who are not currently enrolled in school.  more
There will be a Back to School bash on August 21 from 6 through 8 p.m. at Buffalo Dairy Queen. Fall sports team introductions will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will be Bison wear available for purchase, autograph cards, and a bounce house for enjoyment. A percentage of food sales will be donated back to the sports teams. Come out and support your Bison! more
Time is running out to submit county seal designs for the Dallas County Seal Contest. The deadline is 4 p.m. on Aug. 18. Anyone turning in a design should take the artwork to the Dallas County Clerk’s office in the Administration Bldg., east side of the square in downtown Buffalo or email the artwork to missy@dallascountyadmin.com. more
August has arrived and with it the 2023-2024 school year. The Missouri State Highway Patrol would like to encourage parents to include conversations about safety when preparing their student for school. It’s also important that drivers be prepared for the change in traffic patterns as students begin another year of instruction. In 2022, two people were killed and 361 injured in traffic crashes involving a school bus. In Missouri last year, a total of 884 traffic crashes involved school buses. more

State Budget Director Dan Haug announced today that 2024 fiscal year-to-date net general revenue collections decreased 7.4 percent compared to July 2022, from $970.3 million last year to $898.7 million this year. more
