He is the managing partner for the cannabis facility south of Buffalo, Heartland Labs, that produces both medicinal and recreational marijuana, which allows others to fly high. Pearcy recently presented his cannabis business to the Buffalo Rotary Club. more

State Sen. Sandy Crawford and Dallas County Presiding Commissioner John Crawford attended a public meeting held by the Missouri Department of Conservation at Bennett Spring State Park to discuss the MDC’s plans for renovating the hatchery facility inside the park. The benefits to Dallas County of the park’s plans to renovate this aging infrastructure and its subsequent trout management plan are significant to economic development in the region. In addition, a new hatchery will draw anglers and tourists from across the country, as Bennett Spring offers a premier trout fishing experience for anglers. more

On March 9, Leadership Buffalo had the pleasure to learn from the Dallas County Historical Society. Linda Crawford went into detail of how Dallas County was founded from Polk County and wasn’t named Dallas until 1844. Records before 1867 are difficult to recover because of courthouse fires during the Civil War. Many records they still have are available over the older families from the area. more
The city of Buffalo Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza is Saturday, April 1, and free for all ages. The egg hunt event begins at 10 a.m. There will be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, and parents can snap photos of their children with Mr. Cottontail. more

The Women’s Ministry of the Dallas County Association of Southern Baptists invites the women of the area to the annual Ladies Retreat on April 29 at Macks Creek First Baptist Church. Registration beings at 8:30 a.m. with worship and classes running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., costing $15 per person. more

Students from Buffalo High School attended the 2023 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference on March 12-14 at Tan-Tar-A Conference Center in Osage Beach. Almost 1,500 delegates from across the state represented 8,603 members of Missouri FCCLA. more
The Reynolds Cemetery annual meeting will be at 2 p.m. May 6. This year’s meeting is being changed to a different date due to the unforeseen schedule conflict with the board members. Also, at 8 a.m. May 6, there will be an annual work/cleanup day in the cemetery. Anyone interested in helping with the maintenance and cleanup of the cemetery is encouraged to attend. Those who are involved in the cemetery and who are unable to make it for cleanup are encouraged to attend the 2 p.m. meeting. more
