It only takes a few seconds to pass, but means so much to so many. It now means a lot more to the graphic design print technology instructor at the Dallas County Technical Center and her students. Passing by the “Welcome to Buffalo” sign every day on her way to work, seeing the state of disrepair only fueled her passion to redo the sign. When the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce executive director, Tanya Watson, contacted the tech center and asked if the class would have an interest in helping to restore the sign, the answer of course was yes. What an awesome opportunity it would be for the students to see their work recognized by so many. But this was not going to be an easy endeavor and meant that planning, organizing and managing the task was going to take some effort. more

Jim Hyatt was recently honored by his brothers at Riddick Lodge 361 in Buffalo. The ceremony took place on Tuesday evening, April 25. Hyatt was awarded a certificate for 50 years as a Mason. Christopher L. Story, District Deputy Grand Master of District 34 Lodge of Missouri, officiated at the formal ceremony while fellow members and guests watched Hyatt receive his award. more
The annual Buffalo Art Walk and Craft Fair is held the first Saturday of every May at the Buffalo square. The event is a program of the Buffalo Downtown Association. more
James Phelps, Lebanon, entered an Alford plea Friday, April 28, regarding the first-degree murder charge against him for Cassidy Rainwater’s 2021 death. A judge then sentenced Phelps to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. more

The Southwest Missouri Public Relations Society of America has selected Missouri State University student Makayla Strickland, junior, as the recipient of its Dr. Joe McAdoo Memorial Scholarship. The $1,100 award will be spread evenly over the fall 2023 and spring 2024 academic semesters. more
If you have lived in the Buffalo area very long, and owned and driven an automobile, then you have probably had Terry Turner service it at some point in time. Turner has been an auto service technician for most of his life. The Dallas County native, born in Buffalo at Dr. Plummer’s office, became a service station attendant when he was 14 years old. more
