Bennett Spring State Park staff and Department of Natural Resources representatives Patricia Chambers and Hayley Schnaath met with Buffalo and Dallas County leaders to share information about the park’s history, culture and preservation efforts. Chambers, DNR naturalist, and Schnaath, park specialist, work to protect and interpret the park’s outstanding natural and cultural resources, while providing the public with recreational opportunities compatible with those resources.  more

They spent the day shadowing Rep. Jeff Knight. Sara Gallivan is the local chapter adviser and accompanied the students to the capital city. more

All eyes were on 8-year-old Mercedez Palmer of Buffalo, a student of Elevation Studio, when she won “1st Overall” in the 6-8 age division and the prestigious “Best Musicality” award for her musical theater solo “Born To Entertain” at the Springfield competition of I LOVE DANCE, held April 1 at the University Plaza Convention Center. more

Like many of the plants Janet Wood has transplanted and watched thrive in their new environment, she herself is a transplant to Dallas County and has thrived as one of the community since 1999. Wood is approaching her 20th-year anniversary as a member of the Buffalo Garden Club, where she has held the offices of president and assistant district director. She claims she got one green thumb from her mom who loved flowers, and one green thumb from her dad who loved raising vegetables, especially tomatoes. She says that being in the garden club is an outlet for her artistic ways. more
The DIVAS welcomed the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) to speak at the March club meeting to help raise awareness about its services. The executive director, Kat (Katiina) Dull, talked to the DIVAS and explained the services offered during a child crisis and how Dallas County can get involved. more
Mass plantings of 50,000 daffodils bloom in Springfield and more than 40 rural communities across central and southern Missouri, including Dallas County. This regionwide beautification effort, part of the 50th-anniversary celebration for the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, will be on display for the next several weeks and will rebloom for years to come. more
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Joe Johnson of Louisburg will be honored April 19 at the Missouri State Capitol in recognition of his valor as a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam on March 8, 1970. more
