Macks Creek’s softball swamped Newburg 17-2 in four innings in the opening round of the Class 1 softball tournament at Richland, but fell to top-seeded Crocker 10-0 in six innings in the semifinals. The Lady Pirates finished the season with a 10-14 record.

The Lady Pirates cracked out 17 hits against Newburg and scored four runs in the first inning, five in the third and eight in the fourth. Five Macks Creek players had multiple hits Jesse Willis fell a home run short of the cycle with a single, double and triple to go along with two runs scored and five RBI.

Bobby Hilton singled twice and tripled, and Caytlin Eidson doubled twice and tripled while driving in three runs. Madeline Phillips singled, doubled and had two RBI and Bethany Schmidt singled twice with three runs batted in.

Schmidt improved to 4-5 in the circle with her four innings of work, allowing only three hits.

Against Crocker, however, the Lady Pirates managed only four hits as Shaylee Skinner paced the offense with a single and double. Lexi Mayer doubled and Phillips singled.
