Services: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo. Burial in Memorial Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation: 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Pastor Rod Campbell will officiate.

Escorts will be Don Breithaupt, Terry Hedgepath, Jeff Medlin, Lance Doty, Travis Doty and Daniel Hatfield.

David Pankey, 48, was born in Kansas City, the son of Robert and Winnie Pankey. He died May 5, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, with his mother, brother, son and three cousins by his side.

He grew up in Bolivar. Following his schooling he moved to Saint James, where he practiced radiology and nuclear medicine, before finally settling in Cuba, Mo., and working as an associate at the local Walmart home and garden division.

He was a Master Mason of Fellowship Lodge 345, a Scottish Rite member in Joplin and a member of Buffalo Chapter 446 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

He was saved and baptized at Berean Baptist Church of Bolivar.

His hobbies were riding horses, building RC cars, riding bicycles and driving his Dodge Ram truck and motorcycle.

He always had a smile on his face and went out of his way to help others. He especially enjoyed seeing and spending time playing with his grandchildren whenever he could. He was respected and loved by his associates at Walmart in Cuba and all who knew him. He will be missed by all.

David was preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandparents: Elsie and Carl Pankey, and Thelma and Harold Doty; uncles: Larry Doty, Kenny Doty, Raymond Middleton, Dee Hedgepath and Hollis Atterberry; aunts: Diane Doty and Evelyn Atterberry; and cousins: Andy Atterberry and Dylan Hedgepath.

Survivors include his mother, Winnie Pankey; brother, Curtis Pankey; one son, David Pankey Jr.; two daughters: Elizabeth and husband, Daryl Kuehne, and Hannah Pankey; four grandchildren: Mikayla, Shyla, Blake and Lucas Kuehne; uncles: Bill Pankey, Lanny Doty and Jerry Doty; aunts: Barbara Hedgepath, Irene and husband, Jerry Brown, and Judy Middleton; and other family members and friends.
