Roy Lowayne McConnell, Jr., son of the late Roy Lowayne McConnell, Sr. and Helen (Street) McConnell, was born on February 20, 1942 in Kansas City, Kans., and departed this life on July 29, 2020 at his home in Buffalo. At the time of his passing he was 78 years, 5 months, and 8 days of age. 

Roy spent his early years in Kansas City, Kans. and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Derks in 1963. He worked with the Salvation Army Emergency Group before beginning his career at the Shawnee Mission Schools. He retired after 25 years as the lead carpenter. Roy was a loving husband and father, and he will be missed.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rickie McConnell; and one grandchild, Sydney Derks Riley. He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann of the home; three sons, Pinder J. McConnell of Pittsburg, Calif., David Eugene McConnell of Pittsburg, Calif., and Curtis L. McConnell of Buffalo; one daughter, Tina Marie McConnell of Buffalo; two brothers, Ronnie McConnell of Kansas City, Kans. and Roger McConnell of Overland Park, Kans.; and two grandchildren, Payton Willus Riley of Overland Park, Kans. and Shiloh J. McConnell of Pittsburg, Calif. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.

Cremation rites were accorded under the direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
