MDC experts will discuss catching catfish with set line methods such as jug lines and trot lines. Participants will meet at Truman Lake State Park west of Warsaw. Buffalo senior Brett Schwanke won the Class 3 state championship in the 100-meter dash over the weekend with a time of 10.49 seconds, and he took second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67 seconds. Schwanke has signed to run track at Evangel University next year. more

In a mild upset, Buffalo’s fourth-seeded softball team lost to fifth-seeded Stockton 7-3 in the opening round of the Class 2, District 7 Tournament Friday at Fair Grove. Buffalo also had lost to Stockton 3-1 two weeks ago during the regular season. more

Less than two weeks ago it looked as if Skyline’s baseball team had blown its chance to at least tie for the Mid-Lakes Conference championship. Both Skyline and Forsyth were 2-0 in league play and faced each other on the field. Forsyth beat Skyline, so was in the driver’s seat with just one league game left for each team. more
Fair Grove continued to have a tough schedule in the past week, playing five games in six days. This included a five-hour round trip to Mountain Home, Ark. and a home game the next morning at 11 a.m. against Springfield Central. more
The Skyline Lady Tigers junior high softball team concluded their 2023 season with a busy week, picking up wins against Wheatland and Rogersville, dropping a close rematch at Morrisville, and then finishing the season strong with back-to-back wins against Strafford and Fair Grove to be crowned the 2023 Mid-Lakes Conference Tournament champions. more
