Fair Grove continued to have a tough schedule in the past week, playing five games in six days. This included a five-hour round trip to Mountain Home, Ark. and a home game the next morning at 11 a.m. against Springfield Central.

The Skyline Lady Tigers junior high softball team concluded their 2023 season with a busy week, picking up wins against Wheatland and Rogersville, dropping a close rematch at Morrisville, and then finishing the season strong with back-to-back wins against Strafford and Fair Grove to be crowned the 2023 Mid-Lakes Conference Tournament champions.

An old adage states that batters start to solve pitchers the second or third time around, but the opposite occurred Friday at Fair Grove. Forsyth raced to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and a half, but after that never had more than one base runner in an inning, and never got a runner past first base.

Fair Grove’s baseball team broke a four-game losing streak by defeating highly-touted Springfield Catholic 4-2 Thursday, April 13 in a road game. The Eagles rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh and held on for the victory.

Monday, April 3 was a big day for track athletes in the Reflex’s readership area as they won 19 events at the Warsaw Invitational Track Meet and placed second in several others. The Skyline girls led the way with nine first-place finishes, and the Buffalo boys and girls combined for six wins.

Skyline’s softball team will participate in the Sparta Trojans Softball Classic April 14-15. For Skyline, it replaces the Strafford Tournament that was canceled in the first week of the season because of cold weather.

After defeating Springfield Catholic 9-6 in the opening round and being edged by Ava 3-1 in the semifinals, the Buffalo softball team beat Morrisville 8-3 to win third place in the Buffalo Tournament Saturday. The Lady Bison pounded 11 hits and played errorless ball on defense.
