After losing to Miller in the opening round of the Stockton Tournament (see Jan. 18 issue) Buffalo’s girls basketball team moved to the consolation bracket and was supposed to play Mt. Vernon on Thursday. However, Mt. Vernon canceled the remainder of its season due to a shortage of players. Therefore the Lady Bison played Lamar Saturday for the consolation championship and lost 57-37. more
Fair Grove’s girls basketball team had little trouble winning the Osage Tournament last week as the Lady Eagles outscored three opponents 209 to 72, an average margin of 46 points per contest. It was the second tournament they have won in the pst two weeks having won the Skyline Tournament the week before. more
Macks Creek girls have run roughshod over their opponents the past two weeks, winning four games by large margins. more
Skyline girls won one game and lost one last week. The Lady Tigers played at home against California on Thursday and lost 52-40 after falling behind 19-11 at the quarter and 30-18 at the half. This happened despite a 28-point effort by Ashlen Garrett as no other player scored in double figures. Sadie Redd had five points, Grace Edge four, Riley James two and Autumn Baldwin one. more
Skyline’s boys basketball team was trailing Lakeland 55-38 at the end of the third quarter in a home game Jan. 17, but outscored the visitors 34-9 in the final period to win the contest 72-64. more
Fair Grove’s boys basketball team held off a second-half rally by Springfield Catholic and finally defeated the Irish 51-48 last week. The victory improved the Eagles’ record to 12-5. Fair Grove was in front 11-5 at the quarter and 24-14 at the half, but was outscored 34-27 in the second half. more
Fair Grove’s girls basketball team jumped from the Skyline Tournament right into the Osage Tournament this week. In the opening round of the Osage Tournament Monday night the top seeded Lady Eagles pummeled eighth-seeded Dixon 84-18 and shot 57 percent from the field in the process. more
The 16th annual Skyline Girls Basketball Tournament saw host and first seed Skyline face second seed Fair Grove in the championship game Friday, Jan. 13. The Lady Eagles were the first to score in the game, and they never once gave up their lead, winning 53-34. Fair Grove now has a 12-3 record following the Skyline game. more

As reported in last week’s Reflex, the sixth-seeded Skyline boys lost their opening-round game in the Skyline Tournament third-seeded Weaubleau 49-39. This moved the Tigers to the consolation bracket and they responded with 67-44 win over Climax Springs. The led all the way — 22-11 at the quarter, 35-17 at the half and 59-29 at the end of three. more
Defeating good teams has become a habit with the Fair Grove boys basketball team, and it happened again Friday night as the Eagles outscored once-beaten El Dorado Springs 44-30 in the second half to post a 73-56 home victory on Tuesday, Jan. 10. more
Buffalo’s boys basketball team ripped Sherwood 52-35 Friday in a conference game in front of a courtwarming crowd. The Bison trailed 8-6 at the quarter, but led 22-16 at the half. Their big quarter was the fourth when they outscored the visitors 16-3. more
Buffalo’s girls basketball team is becoming more competitive, but lost a home conference game to Sherwood and a tournament game to Miller in the past few days. more
