Skyline Elementary, Whatcha Got Cookin’?

Some people figure you can learn about anything on the internet these days, so when Skyline Elementary Head Cook, Amanda Hash, heard her diagnosis, "Hodgkin's lymphoma,” she set about doing her own research to help her doctors heal her body. Included in what she found was a plethora of information echoing Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who is credited with saying, “Let your food be your medicine.” Hash says, “I believe our bodies can heal themselves if given the nutrient-dense foods we require,” so on top of chemotherapy and radiation, she started scanning nutrient labels and ensuring she and her family ate food with ingredient lists she could read and understand. Some of the things she tries to avoid are flavorings, food dyes, and sugar.
