Around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, Buffalo City Fire & Rescue and Prairie Grove Fire Department were dispatched to a commercial structure fire at Oseyo Restaurant, 512 S. Ash Street, Buffalo. The fire was reported in the kitchen area, where it was contained and extinguished by firefighters. more

Siblings, Lakin and Liam Popejoy, grew up living the country life right outside of Buffalo. Lakin, 20, and Liam, 14, are the children of Will and Christa Popejoy. Will spends his time working from their home as a mechanic and farmer while Christa can be found fixing up furniture at Market 116 part-time, then at home gardening, or helping with the cows with the rest of her time. more

Our Environmental Public Health Specialist, Shannon Jackson, issued 50 permits for new onsite wastewater construction, responded to 25 complaints, did 72 pre-site visits, 245 drinking water tests, six lodging inspections, responded to three food establishment emergencies, 81 routine food inspections, 11 new food establishment inspections, 30 follow-up inspections, responded to 30 complaints and 38 food recalls. We expanded our water testing services in 2023. more
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement members were dispatched to 3,543 calls for service; those included 159 assist/secure the scene for medical, 66 suicidal attempts, 438 traffic complaints/traffic stops, 104 trespassing calls, 33 weapons calls, 56 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires, 6 abduction/kidnapping calls, 135 alarm calls, 135 animal calls, 27 sexual assaults, 109 assist other agencies, 70 burglary calls, 48 ex-parte violations, 70 property damage/vandalism calls, 132 peace disturbance calls, 231 domestic disturbance calls, 64 harassment/stalking calls, 56 missing/runaway calls, 356 wanted/warrant calls, 125 theft calls and 276 traffic accident calls. This is not an all-inclusive list of calls responded to by the department. more
