On Friday, October 9, 2026, Colonial Springs residents from Buffalo journeyed to Bolivar’s Golden Age games, one of three games the Missouri Health Care Association (MHCA) is hosting.

The Colonial Springs Bees, as their team was named, had a wonderful day of friendly competition, creativity, and fun! We are proud to announce that Colonial Springs earned third place for most points overall.

Our residents’ individual awards included:

– Virgil: First place in hog calling and fourth place in bingo

– Joe: First place in wheelchair racing

– Mary Ann: Fourth place in wheelchair racing

– Dave: First place in trivia

– Otis: Second place in bingo

– Bernetta: Third place in jewelry crafting

– Evo: Third place in woodworking

– Flo: Fourth place in woodworking

– Gloria Smitherman: Third place in crafting

Our team also earned fourth place in the group crafting project.

During the Grand Salute, the event’s grand opening, our Colonial Springs Bees “busted out of the beehive,” danced around the circle, and handed out flowers to residents from other participating teams. It was a sweet way to spread smiles and celebrate together!

We are so proud of our residents and thankful to the staff, organizers, and supporters who helped make this memorable day possible. We are already buzzing with ideas for next year!

Editor’s Note: Good luck to Buffalo Prairie Care Center, as they will compete Friday, October 16, in the Golden Games at Springfield.
