The Fair Grove Sunshine Club met October 14th at the Fair Grove Senior Center. The members attending were Evelyn Kerby, Marilyn Smith, Robbie Gillet, Holly Barlow, Lynda Hutchison, Carolyn Riggi, Mary Terry, Peggy Schletty, Rue Withers, Toni Woffard, Ellen Carter, Pam Meyers & Carol Highfill. Everyone had lunch and the Business Meeting followed.
Marilyn Smith gave the History of the Sunshine Club. It was started as the W.P.F.A Club in 1923 which stands for the Women’s Progressive Farmer’s Association. When it disbanded in 1986, the Club wanted to continue on, so it was named the Sunshine Club. The Club has met every month for 103 years. The Club has met in everyone’s homes, and went to many interesting places all over the area. We have toured many educational places and always looked forward to the good meals we have shared in homes, Tea Rooms, Restaurants, and the Senior Center. New members are always welcomed.
