Three poultry farms in Dallas County tested positive for Avian Influenza virus, otherwise known as bird flu on Feb. 21, 2024. The USDA has identified the type A virus exposed flocks in the county and is working to prevent further spreading by administering the appropriate. precautions and disposing of the contagious birds. more

Legacy Baptist Church’s children spent the winter praying for their beloved children’s minister, Mat Weeks. The high-energy and devoted children’s pastor caught malaria while on a mission trip to Uganda and Southern Sudan, joining the Machine Gun Preacher Sam Childers. more

Carroll James Lindsey was born in January of 1930 to Ralph and Ida Mae (Cofer) Lindsey in the family farm house on the Lindsey Century Farm north of Buffalo. Three generations of Lindsey’s have lived in the farmhouse since it was built by Dallas County Physician and Grandfather Carroll Joseph Lindsey in 1898. more

Linda (Tolley) Bond was born in West Virginia to her father Willie Sherman, and mother Clata Perdue. She grew up alongside her 3 sisters, Alma, Mary, and Martha and brother, Jim. From a young age Linda was very intelligent. Living in Boston around the age of 12, while with foster parents, she was offered to enroll at a special academic 2 year Latin school, but was taken home to West Virginia before she could attend. more
