Charles Dean Sharp

Charles Dean Sharp, 86, was born May 30, 1934 in Webster County, Missouri to George Sharp and Lottie (Harwood) Sharp. Charles left this life to be with his Savior on April 12, 2021 at his home.

Charles was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Marshfield, MO.

Charles graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1952. After graduation, Charles worked at Southern Supply Company as a truck driver.

On April 21, 1957, Charles married the love of his life, Glenda Haubein. They were just a few days away from celebrating their 64th anniversary.

Charles was drafted into the Army in 1957 and stationed in Washington state. Upon completion of his service to the Army in 1959, Charles came back to Missouri and worked for Southern Supply Company again. Charles also worked for Letterman Welding Company in Springfield, MO and Lucas Garage in Fair Grove, MO.

In 1960, Charles decided to be his own boss wearing many different hats. He was a logger, who also did custom sawing at his own sawmill. He was a truck driver, an auto mechanic, an engine builder and a farmer who raised cattle and provided custom baling and custom combining.

Charles spent approximately 15 years running the sawmill for the Ozarks Steam Engine Association in Republic, MO. He enjoyed continuing to go to the annual show.

In 2003, Charles was inducted into the Ozarks Area Racing Hall of Fame in the Pioneer Division as a car owner and chassis and engine builder.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Margaret Jo Burrell and Gloria Jeanne Odem.

Charles is survived by his wife, Glenda of the home; one sister, Patsy Sue McKinnis and husband Larry, Mooresville, NC; 3 brothers-in-law, Norman Burrell and his wife Betty, Marshfield, MO; Wendell Haubein and his wife, Dianne, Salina, KS; Dennis Haubein and his wife Patti, Columbia, MO; 13 nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Narmala, Nurse Misty, and especially to Ms. Amy at Access Care.

Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 17, 2021 at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the donor’s favorite charity in Charles’ name. They may be left with Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
