Galen Sloan

Galen Sloan was born August 18, 1929, in Woodward, Iowa. He died on July 19, 2019, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 89.

He graduated from high school in Grimes, Iowa and went to work for Great Lakes Pipeline. He was drafted into the Army and served in Korea during 1951 and 1952. He remained in the Reserves until 1957. He attended Tulsa University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he earned a degree in Business and minored in petroleum engineering. He was employed by Anchor Petroleum and moved with them to Houston as an employee of Mobil Oil Company. He worked for Mobil Oil 37 years and retired in 1994. 
On April 17, 1965, Galen was married to Carol Ann Bennett.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ina Sloan, two sisters, and foster parents, Erma and Leston Martens.
He is survived by his wife Carol of 54 years; sons Gregory Dean and wife, Melanie of Spring, Texas and Kevin Paul of Tyler, Texas; brother, Robert Sloan of Shelbyville, Indiana. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Amanda, Garret and Austin; a great-granddaughter Ryleigh; and, many nieces and nephews.
